I am researching my Great Grandfather, Nels Opdahl. he was born June 29, 1836 in Norway, married Sara Sjonheim in 1860. Died in Volga, Brookings, South Dakota, USA, 27 Aug 1893. Sara was born 3 May 1840 and died 15 April 1918 in Volga, Brookings, South Dakota, USA.
My father, Mahlon Opdahl, remembers his father telling a neighbor that they changed there name when they came to the USA to Opdahl, representing where they came from. Not sure if this true.
I would like any information on the Opdahl family.
