How do most feel about the link between Pons FitzWilliam (Aka PONS), father
of Dru/Drogo Fitzpons, Walter Fitzpons, etc) and William of Hiesmes, Count of
Eu, as shown in the following link? I know the website maintains it is not
proven, only implied, but not sure if any proof has been found anywhere for
the connection. Since DRU Fitzpons ended up with 73 manors by 1086, I doubt he
was a lowly peon in Williams army in 1066. I am about to work on a later
Count of Eu line, that of Raoul de Lusignan. I have no idea as I write this if he
is related to William of Hiesmes or not, but I will find out soon. It seems
the more I research, the more my lines intermarry. There are several children
from multiple marriages in one family I connect to, and apparently, with
Maud de Bohun (1140? to after 1200), one of the children from her first marriage
is said to have married a son from her second marriage, altho I dont know
how that was allowed.

I assume you left out the intended link to a website, Ken - a video clip
called 'How to Please a Picky Eater' is not promising for genealogical
conjecture.
The sons of William of Hiesmes, count of Eu, by his wife Lescelina are named
by Guillaume of Jumieges who states that there were three: Robert (who was a
companion of William the Conqueror), later count of Eu, WIlliam, count of
Soissons, and, Hugo, bishop of Lisieux.
Raoul de Lusignan became count of Eu by right of his wife Alix, the heiress
of this family, a great-granddaughter to the great-grandson of Duke Richard
I's illegitimate son William of Hiesmes.

The link did not follow, unless it was the one about the picky eater.
I have never seen this suggested, and it seems unlikely.

There are a range of levels between lowly peon and son of a Count:
middle of the road peon, elevated peon, lowly schlub, middle
schlub, . . . . etc. There were many more major landholders than there
were sons of Counts (there weren't that many Counts).

Raoul was not related (as far as we know) but married into the title.

In the 1264 marriage contract between Aimery IX de Rochechouart and
Maud Ferrers (widow (1) Simon de Kyme (2) William le Fort) Maud's two
elder girls (Joan and Sibyl) were to marry Aimery's two elder boys
(Aimery X (d. before his father) and Guy).
